Cave School Programs
Be a Speleosleuth!
Investigate the geology of California caves in this two hour program offered January through March 2000 for 4-8 graders. After a docent-led tour of the California Underground exhibition focusing on the various cave types found in California, students investigate rock types and the chemical processes of limestone formation by participating in a hands-on lab session with a museum teacher. Using microscopes, rock samples and solution, student learn earth science and investigation skills.



 

In the Dark
This school program offers a visit to the bat gallery and a live bat presentation taught by an expert bat educator and handler from the California Bat Conservation Fund. Students will view five species of local bats close-up and learn about their care and conservation.


Offered October through December 1999.
