History Guild Day Trip | Dutch Masters at the de Young

Thursday, February 7, 9 am–3:30 pm

Join the History Guild as we visit the de Young Museum for the traveling exhibition Girl with a Pearl Earring: Dutch Paintings from the Mauritshuis. Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring—sometimes called “the Dutch Mona Lisa”—is among the many extraordinary paintings on view from the Dutch Golden Age, including works by Rembrandt van Rijn, Frans Hals, Jan Steen, Carel Fabritius, Gerard ter Borch, and Rachel Ruysch. We’ll also see an exhibition of works on paper, Rembrandt’s Century, from the Fine Arts Museums’ Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts. The exhibition explores the impact of Rembrandt’s predecessors in Holland and internationally during the culturally-rich 17th century. Lunch follows at the Blue Muse restaurant in Hayes Valley.
