Youth Explorations

Youth Explorations 2005 was held in the 517,000-acre Trinity Alps Wilderness, the second largest designated wilderness in California Laced with trails, rivers, forests, and peaks, this wilderness provided a spectacular setting for well-supervised, small-group backpacking adventures. This unique experience for Oakland youth emphasized advanced leadership, outdoor skills, and hands-on ecology study. Majestic granite peaks and clear alpine lakes were the setting for field studies and personal challenges as we hiked, swam, explored, and camped in the high country.
Youth Explorations 2006 will be in the majestic Sierra National Forest by Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Park. If you know of a high school student who would enjoy this kind of opportunity, please contact Zakary Zide at 510/238-2063.
