Jim
Kantor
A member of
the Donor Forum and the Heritage
Society, Jim Kantor has supported
the museum since 1969. “Jim is one of our most ardent friends.
He is actively involved and always ready to share his many memories
of the museum,” comments Executive Director Dennis Power.
While Jim
is “wild about the whole museum,” Senior Curator of
Art Karen Tsujimoto counts him as one of the Art Department’s
most loyal supporters. She states, “We are fortunate to have
such a passionate friend. Jim’s enthusiasm is wonderfully
infectious, and his commitment has been invaluable.”
Because of
careful retirement planning, Jim makes annual gifts to charities
while doing volunteer work that he loves. He enjoys curating historical
exhibitions at U.C Berkeley, where he was an archivist for over
20 years, and leading tours at the Tao House, Eugene O’Neill’s
historic home in Danville.
In the past,
he helped organize the museum’s Roger Sturtevant Photography
Collection, and lately has dedicated his energy to the Heritage
Society, our recognition program for those who include the museum
in their estate plans. Jim reminds us, “Members and friends
should think ahead, as bequests to the Oakland Museum of California
Foundation will ensure that the institution will continue to flourish
for future generations.”
