The Oakland Museum of California is located at 1000 Oak @ 10th
Street, near Lake Merritt, in Oakland. Oak is a one-way street,
going north.
The entrance to the parking garage is on Oak between
10th and 12th Streets.

Directions to the museum by car
From the Oakland Airport and the south, take 880 North to the Oak
Street exit. Turn right on Oak and go four blocks to 10th Street.
You’ll see the museum on your right, at the intersection
of Oak and 10th Streets.
From
San Francisco:
Cross the Bay Bridge and take 580 East to 980 West/Downtown
Oakland. Take the Jackson Street exit; you will be on 5th Street.
Continue straight on 5th Street to the third stoplight (Oak). Turn
left and continue on Oak to 10th Street.
From
Walnut Creek, Orinda:
Take Highway 24 toward San Francisco, then get on 980 West/Downtown
Oakland. Take the Jackson Street exit (you will be on 5th Street).
Continue straight on 5th Street to the third stoplight (Oak). Turn
left and continue on Oak to 10th Street.
From
Livermore, Pleasanton:
Take 580 West toward San Francisco and get on 980 West/Downtown
Oakland. Take the Jackson Street exit (you will be on 5th Street).
Continue straight on 5th Street to the third stoplight (Oak). Turn
left and continue on Oak to 10th Street.
From
Marin County:
Take the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, following signs to Oakland.
You will be on Highway 580. At Golden Gate Fields Highway 580 merges
with 80 West. Just past the Emeryville exit get into left lane
and take 580 East to 980 West/Downtown Oakland.Take the Jackson
Street exit (you will be on 5th Street).
Continue straight on 5th Street to the third stoplight (Oak). Turn
left and continue on Oak to 10th Street.
From
San Mateo and other Peninsula cities:
Cross the San Mateo or Dunbarton bridges to the East Bay
and go north on 880 to the Oak Street exit. Turn right on Oak
and go four blocks to 10th Street. You’ll see the museum
on your right, at the intersection of Oak and 10th Streets..
From
the San Jose, Santa Cruz:
Take 880 North past the airport and the Oakland Coliseum
exits. Take the OakStreet exit, turn right on Oak, and
go four blocks to 10th Street. You’ll see the museum
on your right, at the intersection of Oak and 10th Streets.
From
San Mateo, other peninsula cities:
Cross the San Mateo Bridge to the East Bay and take 880

From Berkeley
and Sacramento:

Continue on 5th Street to the third stoplight (Oak), and turn
left. Continue
on Oak to 10th Street. You’ll see the museum on your right,
at the intersection of Oak and 10th Streets.

Parking:
The museum garage entrance is on Oak between 10 and 12 Streets.
$2.50 an hour for the public, $1 an hour for museum visitors
with validation. Bring your ticket to the Admissions Desk (level
2) or the museum store (level 1) for validation.
BART:
Take BART to the Lake Merritt station. Exit at 9th Street and turn
right. At end of block turn left onto Fallon Street (Laney College
is across Fallon). Fallon ends in front of the museum’s 10th
Street entrance. Or exit at 9th Street, turn left and walk to Oak.
Turn left onto Oak, and walk a block to 10th and Oak. The museum’s
Oak Street entrance is half a block further, on the right.
